There are a lot of various ways your air conditioning system can let you know that there are troubles going on. One of the ways your air conditioning system has of communicating problems with you is to make sounds that can let you know something isn't right. Here are different sounds and what they are trying to tell you.
A pulsing sound that can be continuous or intermittent
One of the noises that your air conditioner can end up making is a strange pulsating sound that may be difficult to pinpoint the cause of. However, once you know that it may be coming from your air conditioning system, you can recognize it right away if you start to hear it. This pulsating sound may be coming from a loose part in the motor. The loose part may be a loose blade on the fan. Or, the sound may be another part that is causing the fan to not work correctly.
A humming sound that is continuous
If you are hearing a sound coming from the air conditioner that is making a humming noise, then it can be a mechanical problem inside of the motor. However, it can also be an electrical issue. Being that the problem may be electrical, it is even more important than ever for you to have someone come out immediately to check the unit out before you continue to use it.
A crinkling sound like foil or paper being crumbled up
A sound of crinkling that you would hear if you were balling up something like foil or even a piece of paper can mean that you have something inside of the motor that is twisted up in the fan. Or, the thing inside of the motor can be getting struck by the fan blades as the fan spins. If this is the issue, then the problem needs to be resolved right away. Leaving the debris in place and continuing to run the fan can cause major problems, including having the fan burn out.
A bubbling sound that is either consistent or intermittent
A bubbling sound that is coming from the system is going to more than likely be air that is trapped in the coolant lines. The only problem won't be the air trapped, but rather how the air got there in the first place. Had the lines in the system been correctly sealed, then the air wouldn't have got inside of them.
